A comforting Southern-style chicken dressing loaded with flavor, perfect for holidays or family dinners.
Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 3–4 lbs), cooked and shredded
- 6 cups cornbread, crumbled
- 4 slices white bread, torn
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 celery stalks, diced
- 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
- 1 teaspoon sage
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, sauté onions and celery in melted butter until soft.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, torn white bread, shredded chicken, sautéed vegetables, poultry seasoning, sage, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in beaten eggs and chicken broth until fully moistened.
- Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the middle.
Notes
For extra flavor, use the broth from boiling the chicken. You can also add chopped boiled eggs for a traditional Southern twist.
